Saturday, November 8th was Brayton's 3rd birthday.
All our families showed up for the party. Grandma & Grandpa Anderson, Grandma & Grandpa Loots, Grandma and Grandpa Hansen, Uncle Ryan and Maria, Aunt Audra and Uncle Matt, Uncle Dustin and Aunt Kristin and Ella. We had a great time. Colette prepared a good meal of Made Rites, cheesy corn, fruit salad and birthday cake. Afterward, Brayton got to open all his gifts and had a great time playing and celebrating his 3rd birthday.
The birthday cake, was artfully created by Colette. She went to the Urbandale Library where they have specialized cake pans you can check out. Brayton selected a dinosaur cake, after carefully considering over 100 different pans. Colette said that it came down to the dinosaur and Elmo, but in the end the dinosaur won out.
After baking the cake, Colette spent about 3 hours diligently decorating Brayton's birthday cake and was up until well after 11pm that evening putting the finishing touches on it. I think she did an outstanding job, and it tasted pretty good too.
I have to attest to the fact that the Dinosaur Birthday Cake was delicious (of course, chocolate is my favorite flavor). In addition to the cake, Colette prepared a delicious meal: maidrite sandwiches, fruit salad, and corn/macaronii to name a few. Brayton and Lauren and Doug should be so thankful that their mommy is so dedicated to the whole family and is such a good teacher as well. Of course, it is nice that Doug can provide the income necessary to let Colette be the children's main "mommy and teacher". The party was great and it was nice to have such a large number of the family in attendance.
