Christmas Tree 2008

Tonight we put up the Christmas tree. This was the first year the kids got involved. We only broke one ornament and it wasn't the kids who broke it. It was me.

After the kids got up from their naps, I hauled the Christmas tree up from the basement along with the other boxes of lights, ornaments, nativity scene, and other Christmas stuff.

Brayton helped me set up the tree. Colette got all the ornaments out and after stringing up the lights Brayton and Lauren both did their best to help us hang those ornaments.

We took a short break to eat some popcorn, or as Lauren says it "Poppy". It was a really fun night and everyone chipped in to help.
Now we'll just have to get out the vacuum cleaner to "stand guard" to keep a little girl from grabbing the "balls" off the tree.

Pheasant Hunting

On Friday, Grandpa Gordon and I went pheasant hunting. We went out about 10am and came back to town at about noon with four pheasants. It was a reasonably successful morning. Colette brought Brayton and Lauren out to see the pheasants. Brayton was very interested in the birds, they were "sleeping"...Permanently.
After a brief lunch, Dad and I went back out and got one more bird to take our daily tally to five.

As evidenced by the photo, Lauren was not the least bit interested in them.
